Course is a part of umbrella title "Theories and methodologies in the context of inclusion and exclusion 1". Classes are taught at the University of Ostrava.
In the course "Inclusion in Housing and Disadvantaged Neighbourhoods," we will introduce concepts of housing precarity, hypercommodification of housing and residential displacement. You will familiarize with their underlying processes, causes, and impacts in the forms of housing exclusion and homelessness, business with poverty and formation of socially excluded localities. We will then introduce social work responses in the form of Housing Ready, Housing First, and Housing Led approaches and community work. You will learn about housing policies in the Czech Republic and at the European level as social policy responses. In the last part of the course, you will meet people with experience of housing need through storytelling and in the community setting. You will learn about their needs and ideas for effective support in their life situation. The course will be completed by final presentations of collaborative photovoice projects.
