AnotationThe project explores the role of social work in supporting the rights of people with disability to live independently and to be included in the community in the process of deinstitutionalization (DI) of residential facilities for people with disabilities in the Czech Republic. The project aims to explore factors of DI, create new models of social work supporting the rights, and formulate legislative proposals de lege ferenda to guarantee them. The project uses situational analysis. Data will be collected from 1) people with disabilities, who have undergone the process of DI, and who moved from long-term residential facilities to independent living in the community or a residential facility with a lower level of assistance, 2) social workers involved in DI, 3) stakeholders in the movement for DI, 4) representatives of local administrative units responsible for DI. Project findings will help people with disabilities transition to independent living and mitigate the risks of reinstitutionalization or transinstitutionalization.
