The Dean of the Faculty of Social Studies of the University of Ostrava announces the selection procedure No. OU-135307/20-2024 to fill the following systematized job position:

  • Tenure track researcher within the project REFRESH – Research Excellence For REgion Sustainability and High-tech Industries

This is a post to be filled in accordance with the terms of the REFRESH project - Research Excellence For Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries (project registration number CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048).

Position

  • non-academic worker

Type of systematised post

  • Researcher III

Expected onset

  • 1st January 2025 (or according to agreement)

Expected amount of working time

  • 70 % (or according to agreement)

Work contract

  • fixed term, i.e. until 31th December 2027 (for the duration of the REFRESH project)

Salary conditions

  • according to the valid OU wage regulation

Language in which the selection procedure will be conducted

  • Czech/English

Qualifications and other requirements

  • A foreign researcher, or above-average talented Czech home researcher with international experience (min. 3 months)
  • EU research level: R3 – Established, at least 5 years of postdoctoral research experience
  • Ph.D. degree in social work, social policy, political science or a related field,
  • H-index of the researcher min. 3 (FORD 1,3,5), 2 WOS/4 Scholar (FORD6). Alternatively, 30 documented citations of own works
  • For FORD 1,3,5: 3x Jimp, for FORD6: min. 7 publications of type Jimp, Jsc, B, C, where the outputs are comparable to the international research level (the most significant are those where the researcher/worker is the main author, or Q1 and Q2 journals), references to preprints may be included if publicly available (preprints must be suitably referenced with either a link to the preprint or a DOI)
  • English language skills at B2 level, good written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of security issues and the ability to carry out independent research in this field
  • Active publishing and international cooperation in research on organised crime, social exclusion, extremism or other criminological topics

Description of the job:

  • Solving or jointly solving complex scientific research/development tasks in the Refresh project
  • Cooperation in the research team and with domestic and partner researchers
  • Active publication activity according to the requirements of the field and in accordance with the requirements of the Refresh project
  • Ensuring funding of research (submission of grants, search for contractual cooperation on research)

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the presence of the candidates by means of an assessment of the submitted materials by the selection committee.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Studies reserves the right to invite only selected candidates to a personal meeting. It also reserves the right not to select any candidate. The selection procedure may be shortened, cancelled or repeated at the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty.
