Doctoral Studies at FSS UO

The Doctoral Study Programme (DSP) Social Work of the Faculty of Social Studies (FSS) conducted in English provides postgraduate studies preparing top specialists in the field of social work. The main direction of research at FSS is Population Groups at Risk of Social Exclusion.

The programme Social Work is carried out in part-time form. The standard length of study is 4 years, the maximum length of study is 6 years. The study is duly completed by the state doctoral examination and dissertation defence. Graduates are awarded the academic title of doctor (abbreviated as Ph.D.). There is an annual tuition fee for the study programme Social Work (40,000 CZK for the Academic Year 2024/2025; 40,000 CZK for the Academic Year 2025/2026).

Please allow us to inform you that a doctoral scholarship may be awarded only to a student studying in a doctoral degree programme in full-time form who is studying within the standard duration of studies. A doctoral scholarship is not awarded to a student studying in a doctoral degree programme in part-time form.

The doctoral studies are monitored and evaluated by the Faculty Board for Doctoral Studies of the Faculty of Social Studies, the members of which are both internal and external leading academics and researchers. The Chair of the Faculty Board for Doctoral Studies of FSS is prof. Mgr. Soňa Kalenda Vávrová, Ph.D., guarantor of the doctoral study programme Social Work.
