| Anotation | The ESWPEN project aims to enhance the development of the social work profession in a low-income country while addressing sustainability in social work education. Social work is intrinsically concerned with assisting individuals in meeting their fundamental needs, addressing social injustices, and strengthening civil society. ESWPEN, a collaboration involving three European and three Nepalese HEIs and one national agency, seeks to fortify the capacity of social work education through three distinct characteristics: i) practice-oriented yet incorporating a theory-based approach, ii) contextualized within the Nepalese context, and iii) sustainable through structural procedures. Based on a needs assessment in Nepal, ESWPEN will develop a training module tailored for social work field practice supervisors at universities and placement agencies. This module will equip supervisors with essential skills to effectively oversee social work students. Training will occur in classrooms and through student internships in service agencies, with evaluations to assess effectiveness. To support internships, the project will establish a collaboration protocol between HEIs and field agencies and a practice supervision guide. These resources will benefit faculty, curriculum development, and employment practices. ESWPEN will train 30 field education teachers, 100 agency supervisors, and supervise 600 social work students, ultimately serving 600 clients. ESWPEN is committed to sustainability and dissemination, engaging with national, regional, and multi-sector stakeholders to foster collaboration. The project will incubate three agencies to accommodate social work graduates, ensuring their continuous employment. Training will focus on trainees? capacity building, safeguarding the long-term sustainability of HEIs in Nepal. |
