The main focus of research at the Faculty of Social Studies

The main focus of research at the Faculty of Social Studies, as approved by the Academic Council of the University of Ostrava, centres on the social impacts of modernisation and social exclusion. These belong among the key areas of research at the University of Ostrava. The Faculty's research involves the following fields of inquiry:

• theory of modernisation, the learning society, modernisation at the regional level, the specific case of Ostrava;
• social and gerontological aspects of modernisation;
• the consequences of modernisation for Social Work.
